For, behold, the darkness shall cover
the earth, and gross darkness the people: |
Here's some detail on perhaps
the most unusual tune on the Octaman album,

"We
Need The Kingdom" is slightly more jazz - funk oriented with reggae
vibes interwoven, and deep sound FX.
"We Need The Kingdom!"
At
the time I was called by the Lord I was already a rather unusual
performer, with a
unique talent for entertaining an audience that I recognized was a
gift. We as Bible Students are taught by our studies that we
should
remain in the vocation we were in when we were first called. I
set out
to utilize my talents for a different purpose:
Rather than worldy
topics, I would craft a message to reflect the
wonderful Present Truth
that we are blessed with. The title of this song capsulizes the
effort.
"We Need The Kingdom!"
All
of our hopes and dreams, all of our cares and woes are answered by
those four words, "We Need The Kingdom." All of our Bible studies
and
conventions are summarized by the same prayerful refrain. Recent
vandalism, even on this forum,
is illustrative of the problems we face every day, and this song is
about the solution. The world stands on the edge of a knife with
many
lives spinning out of control. Now more than ever,
"We Need
The Kingdom!"
The
lyrics are about how so much of what we say in our daily conversation
has so little to do with the highest purpose of our lives - the message
of the King and the Kingdom. There are so many diversions, so
many
small matters to talk and joke about, from sports and politics to the
weather to Hollywood, but how little of our conversation is about the
one thing that provides the answer to all the worlds problems! It
is a
struggle that I face and that I am willing to share.
The
song contains some little clues and personal items (can you
find the secret Star Wars references?) - however it is offered with the
hope
and prayer that we all will elevate our minds and our goals.
(That
goes for me especially.) What a wonderful Savior we serve!
Yours,
Octaman
